GLA-ClassAny Mercedes fan out there has heard talk of one of the next amazing new models from Mercedes-Benz in the form of a small, compact crossover SUV that is set to compete with the BMW X1 and Range Rover Evoque. The GLA-Class, which will debut in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, seems to be taking design cues and other engine options from some of the latest vehicles, including the all-new 2014 CLA-Class. Get ready, because it’s coming.

Leading up to the Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes has teased us with video and images of its latest SUV creation to build up even more excitement for the GLA-Class. Potentially sharing an engine with the upcoming CLA-Class, the GLA-Class could be loaded up with a turbocharge 2.0L four-cylinder engine featuring 208 hp. Yes, there are plans for an AMG® version of the GLA-Class, so don’t worry AMG® fans.

The original concept crossover that debuted at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show is mostly retained in the seemingly production-ready version of the GLA-Class shown in the Mercedes teaser video, as well as artist-rendered sketches. The compact crossover segment around the world is one that has become increasingly popular with consumers, and it is about time that Mercedes came in to try and grab a piece of the pie.

Are you excited for the all-new GLA-Class? Be prepared for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and continue to follow all of the latest news and events from Mercedes. You don’t want to miss out on the next amazing vehicle from this world-renowned luxury brand. I know that I won’t.
