Salvage Yard Guide

Old Engine Parts

If your car is in dire need of repair, you probably don’t have time to wait around for a dealer to order parts from across the country. You need the parts now, and that’s understandable. That’s why instead of waiting for your used auto parts, you should seize the day and find them on your own at your local salvage yard.

Life doesn’t go on hold when your car falls into disrepair. Don’t waste time and money going through the dealer. Go to the salvage yard and get back in the driver’s seat on your own terms! Before you hit the yard, though, make sure you have a game plan.

Inspect your car and figure out exactly what pieces you’ll need before you get to the salvage yard. This will diminish the time spent searching and give the knowledgeable salvage technicians a definitive picture of what you’re looking for. Experienced technicians will already have used auto parts grouped together to save their customers valuable time.

Some auto parts are meant to wear out. Don’t waste time and money replacing pieces like brake rotors, starters, and alternators with used parts; it’s best to buy new in those scenarios.

Don’t be shy to ask the salvage technicians questions. Most likely, they’ll revel in the opportunity to teach a novice car-person some new skills. Inquire about and inspect the used auto parts you’re about to purchase. You don’t want to spend all this time and energy on finding the correct component just to find out that it is just as damaged as the car part you want to replace.

Keep this in mind next time you find yourself in need of automotive repairs: a salvage yard is just the place to find those used car parts that would normally cost a pretty penny or take several weeks to arrive.
