Prestige Lexus Employees “Walk Now for Autism Speaks”

by Chris Crowley on May 17, 2013

Team Prestige LexusEmployees at Prestige Lexus announced that they will participate in “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” for their third consecutive year.  Team Prestige Lexus will walk 1.5 miles on May 19, along with hundreds of other local advocates, to raise funds for autism research and to spread awareness about the disorder.

Ramsey, N.J. (PR Web) – Prestige Lexus first participated in “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” two years ago to honor the children of Prestige Lexus employees who have been diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  Autism and ASD are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. Autism affects one in every 88 children born in the United States, causing difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, and repetitive behaviors. Team Prestige Lexus will be walking again this year to raise funds for autism awareness and research, in support of all those affected by the disorder.

“This event is personally important to me because my son and my nephew have both been diagnosed on the spectrum,” said Stacey Diver, co-leader of Team Prestige Lexus. “Many of my friends’ and coworkers’ families are affected as well. I feel that by participating in the walk, I can show my support for my son and for all other families dealing with autism. By raising donations, I can help other families receive the early intervention services and therapies that their children need.”

The walk is more than just to raise awareness for autism, however. It is also a chance for those affected to come together, be around each other, and feel like they are a part of something bigger.

“Walk Now for Autism Speaks is a great event for my children,” Diver continued. “They have many activities for the children to make it fun, and it gives them a chance to see people come together for a great cause. I think it helps my son feel accepted for the unique individual that he is.”

Those interested in joining the team or donating may contact Stacey Diver at 201-258-6142 or email her at [email protected] More information about autism and ASD are available at
