Lexus RX HybridAs a leader in the luxury automotive market, Lexus is always trying to find ways to improve their products, increase their market share, and provide their customers with the best luxury vehicles money can buy. With the ever-changing world that is the vehicle industry, staying on top of the latest trends and keeping up with new consumer tastes is no easy task. A fresh, up-and-coming segment that is growing faster than any other is the compact SUV. This is why Lexus has recently discussed plans to launch a small, hybrid SUV to compete with the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, which have been very successful for their respective luxury brands.

The premium compact SUV segment has grown substantially in recent years, especially in Europe. According to Automotive News Europe, the segment grew 24 percent in 2012 alone, showing fantastic growth opportunity for all companies who can find their way into it. The new Lexus model, which has yet to garner a designation, will most likely be based on parent company Toyota’s latest RAV4 model line, which has had great success since its release. The SUV will also most likely utilize Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive to deliver superb fuel efficiency.

Sources suggest that a concept version of this new Lexus SUV will debut at the Tokyo Auto Show this November and be ready for production by next year’s Geneva Auto Show in March. There have been many rumors around this exciting development, but now appears a certainty that Lexus’ plans around producing this model are moving forward. Would you love to see a Lexus compact SUV come to fruition? Would you drive it?
